Our Credentials
- René Pérez-López and Raquel Pérez-López are both certified by the Supreme Court of Virginia as Spanish interpreters. Raquel Pérez-López is also certified by the State of North Carolina.
- The Supreme Court of Virginia is a member of the National Center for State Courts interpreter consortium, along with almost forty other states throughout the United States.
- Raquel is certified by the Northern Virginia Area Health Education Center as an interpretation instructor.
- René began interpreting in 1972 and Raquel began interpreting in 1994.
- Raquel graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish.
- Raquel holds a Master of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics from Old Dominion University with a concentration in teaching English as a Second Language.
- Raquel attended the Spanish university la Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, where she acquired a Castilian accent, one of her working dialects.
- René and Raquel interpret for Spanish speakers in all eight local jurisdictions, including U. S. District Court.
- René and Raquel interpret for the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Navy and hold clearances to enter secured areas.
- René began interpreting in 1972 and Raquel began interpreting in 1994.
- Pérez-López and Associates is a proud member of the American Translator’s Association and the Public Relations Society of America.
- René and Raquel perform community service frequently for indigent people who cannot afford interpreters. Raquel is the former Chair of the American Red Cross Language Bank (Hampton Roads Chapter). Raquel serves as the Chair of the Diversity Committee of the Public Relations Society of America (Hampton Roads Chapter).
